Twitter is not a Chat

When I was given a task by a client on Twitter, little by little I learned something about it. In my own understanding Twitter is not a typical social network that tend to send updates(e.g. status message, uploaded images, added friends) of both direction. An update will only be send to the one that "follow" to a certain person or profile. If a social networks will prompt messages with mutuality or in multi-directional ways, a Twitter update isn't be broadcast unless you have subscribe to that particular page. In communication, Twitter is a "simplex" type and other social networks would be "duplex" type of communications. Twitter indeed is not a chat. A chat is an example of a duplex communication. Both person talking, will simultaneously send and receive message regardless the timeframe of sending and receiving. Generally twitter users are not encourage to act as a chatter in Twitter. Twitter isn't a chatroom. Twitter is simply a place to let the world and your niche knows your updates. Gossips are good as long as in the right place and the right time.
